MAKKAH, 1 March — In a King Fahd Cup soccer match played in Makkah, Jeddah’s Al-Ahli defeated Al-Wahdah 2-1 while in another match of the tournament played in Kharj, Al-Shola and Al-Taie were concerned in a 1-1 draw.
Al-Ahli took the lead when Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyed converted a penalty and Senegali Muhammad Shoviheen netted their second goal.
For Wahda, the lone goal was scored by Paulo D’Silva.
Ahli continue to occupy the third place on the league table with 35 points from 18 matches while Wahda are placed at the bottom with just eight points from the same number of encounters.
Al-Taie looked home and dry through a 39th minute goal from Ahmad Al-Rashidi. However, an injury time equalizer by Aakif Ataa put paid to their hopes and earned Al-Shola a valuable point. Shola are sixth with 24 points from 18 matches while Taie are 11th with 15 points and the same number of matches.
