JEDDAH, 18 March — Saudi artists have decided to donate the proceeds of an upcoming exhibition to the families of 15 girls who died in a Makkah school fire.

“Our exhibition, in which more than 40 Saudi artists will display their works in a fortnight’s time at the House of Artists in the Jamjoom Center will be dedicated to the families of the girls killed,” Hisham A. Binjabi, chairman of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare’s House of Artists, said yesterday.

“We want to show the families that we are with them in their grief and would like to help in whatever way possible,” Binjabi said.

The House of Artists, which now has 120 members (including 50 women), is continuing its three-week annual show of exhibits by its members for one more week.

“This is the last exhibition by our members for the year 1422H. Our 1423H calendar year will begin with the exhibition in aid of the families of the fire victims of the Makkah school fire. This will be followed by 13 other exhibitions. We also plan to show off our artists’ work outside the Kingdom, as we did in Lebanon and Egypt during the past year,” Binjabi said.
