JEDDAH, 19 March — The Saudi Telecom Company will start issuing prepaid mobile phone chips on March 27, Al-Yaum daily reported yesterday, quoting an informed source.
The chips will be available in three different denominations of SR100, SR300 and SR500, the paper added.
Informed sources told Arab News that STC will charge SR200 for the service. The company has already supplied its subscription offices throughout the Kingdom with the special equipment needed to issue the chips.
Al-Yaum said the company sold 3,170 mobiles last Saturday, the first day when the new cuts in mobile phone connection charge took effect. It has slashed the charge of ordinary and family mobiles to SR300.
