JEDDAH, 25 March — An Indian expatriate worker, Sunil Kumar, 43, committed suicide at a factory in Uhd Rafeeda on Wednesday, Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
A letter written by Kumar said that he decided to end his life by hanging because of financial problems.
Kumar’s friends told the Arabic paper that he was not suffering from any mental or physical disorder.
“He was very friendly with his colleagues and he used to play pranks on them,” one said.
They added that the man committed suicide at about 10 a.m. inside a small room in the factory.
The authorities at the factory called the police, who found no other signs of violence on Kumar’s body. The letter was in his pocket.
In Taif, a 55-year-old Pakistani was found dead in his room. Police in the summer resort have launched a probe into the incident.
Meanwhile, a retired police officer in Bisha shot dead an officer at Bisha police station on Saturday, Al-Watan reported yesterday.
“The retired officer killed the policeman because he was on bad terms with the latter’s brother, who was the killer’s boss,” the paper said.
After he retired, the killer wanted to take revenge on his boss. But when the man went to his house, he wasn’t there. So he killed the brother instead.
Security agencies in Bisha have mounted an investigation into the incident to find out the exact circumstances that led to the murder.
And in Dammam the police have launched a probe into another murder incident after they discovered the body of a 22-year-old Saudi on a road leading to Umm Sahik.
Police found three stab wounds on the youth’s body. The medical examiner said the youth might have been killed on Wednesday, 24 hours before police found the body. The slain man has been identified as a college student in Dammam. Although the youth came from a village in Hafr Al-Baten, he was staying with his uncle in Dammam, Al-Watan said.
Police are still searching for the suspected killer, whom a number of people are reported to have seen traveling with the murdered youth on Wednesday.
