TAIF, 30 March — Police have re-arrested three individuals — a Saudi and two Yemenis — suspected of committing a burglary in the city after they escaped from a security van, an informed source told Arab News.
The source added that the authorities were questioning a police officer whose negligence led to the suspects escaping while they were being taken to court to register their confessions.
Security officers had earlier apprehended the three for their alleged involvement in a string of robberies carried out on local shops.
The source said that the police officer failed to stop the suspects when they ran away from the van as it pulled up at a traffic light.
However, police rearrested the suspects within 24 hours with the help of undercover agents and by monitoring telephone calls made by the suspects to their families.
