Municipality orders tenants to vacate unsafe building

JEDDAH, 30 March — The Jeddah Municipality and the Civil Defense Department have served notice on six Saudi families to immediately evacuate a building in the airport area for their own safety.

The affected families complain that despite being told to leave the building, they have not been given alternative accommodation.

Wadie Abu Al-Hamael, head of the municipality in the area, said providing alternative arrangements for the tenants was not the municipality’s responsibility.
