The 2002 edition of Jeddah, a pocket book of information about the city, has hit the stands. The publication is the 12th edition published on behalf of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) by Arab Circle for Advertisement & Publications (ACAP). “Over the last half century, the Red Sea port has transformed itself into a modern, bustling city with a number of tourist attractions. The city attracts millions of visitors from across the Kingdom and overseas, especially during summer and other vacation seasons,” JCCI Chairman Abdullah Zainal A. Alireza says in his foreword. In his introductory remarks JCCI Secretary General Dr. Majed A. Al Kasabi says the handy guide provides valuable information on socio-economic aspects of the city. “The issue contains interesting articles on the city’s history, shopping, dining places, etc., which should generate a lot of interest among its residents and visitors. Its white pages provide telephone numbers and addresses of shops and establishments spread across the city. The guide contains a map of the city that should facilitate locating places,” he says. ACAP Director General Dr. Abubakr A. Alaidarous says: “Although the guide has been praised for its quality, concerted efforts are made year after year to improve it further by incorporating new information and data on every relevant aspect of the city. Also, some articles and features have been rewritten and some others changed to suit and sustain user interests. ACAP GM Mohammed Waseem Mohiuddin has termed the guide a reliable reference publication that has been in great demand like the ACAP’s other publications including Jeddah Commercial Directory and Riyadh Today. Its Eastern Province Today is to hit the stands soon.
