JCL Executive Committee win against Continental

JEDDAH, 5 April — As per the tradition and to make cricket become more popular the Jeddah Cricket League Executive Committee is playing social matches every Thursday against various professional organizations. Last week Executive Committee played a 20-over social match against Continental School team comprising of staff members. Match was well-attended by the family members of both teams. The match was sponsored by Zultec Group of Companies.

Shahid Amin, president JCL, led the Executive Committee XI, called the coin correctly and opted to bat first. Hamid (14 - 2 fours) and Naeem (38 - 2 fours) provided 28 runs opening wicket stand. Hamid played across and was bowled by Rogers. Aijaz Khan was caught behind of Scotter’s bowling. Umair retired after scoring 26 runs including 2 hits to the ropes. Executive Committee XI tally did not look very good. But Nadeem after receiving a reprieve, played in his usual cavalier style and hammered the ball to all corners of ground. He hit three skyscrapers and three boundaries in his knock of 47. Zafar Makki added 14 with the help of a boundary. Executive Committee XI posted 155 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Continental School’s fielding was very good and everyone put in his best efforts. Rogers (1 for 19), Scotter (1 for 16) and Liptrot (1 for 1) shared the wickets.

Rogers and Callagher were dismissed without opening their account. Crowther was bowled by Umair for 1. Continental School XI was tottering at 4 for 3 wickets. But Beattie (40 - 4 fours) and Scotter (37 - 3 fours) added 73 runs between them. Law (26 - 2 fours) also played well. Williams contributed 13. Continental School XI reached 145 runs. Zafar (1 for 5), Ejaz Khan (1 for 17), Ahsan Rafay (1 for 15) and Shahid Amin (1 for 6) were successful bowlers. Nadeem and Scotter were declared men-of-the-match. At the conclusion of the match, Zulqiurrnain Ali Khan gave away awards to both men-of-the-match. Law thanked JCL for providing them the match which they thoroughly enjoyed. Refreshments were served to all present.
