Safety rules for buildings enforced

JEDDAH, 7 April — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed has issued a directive for enforcing measures recommended by Jeddah mayor’s office and the Civil Defense in the Makkah Province, for ensuring safety of buildings in the region. The measures stipulate that no permits be issued to construct buildings with more than four stories without the prior approval of the Civil Defense. “This is to ensure that the building plans incorporate all safety requirements,” Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Thobaity, director of Civil Defense in Makkah, said.
