7,000 cancer cases registered

JEDDAH, 12 April — About 7,000 cancer cases are registered in the Kingdom annually, according to Dr. Adnan Ezzat, head of the Tumor Department at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. About 30 percent of the cases are at such an advanced stage that treatment is not effective. Saudi men generally are afflicted by cancer of the liver or the cancer of the lymphatic gland, while women mostly suffer from breast cancer.
