DAMMAM, 12 April — In an exciting match, Shining Star defeated Rising Sun 1-0 in the Eastern Province Football Tournament at Dammam Saptco Football ground last Friday. First half of the match ended goalless and during the second half, the brilliance of Vanichery Mohammed Ali and Suneer put Shining Star in commanding position with a lead of 1-0. Suneer netted the winning goal for Shining Star. Rising Sun, led by captain Kunchuttan, tried to equalize but they couldn’t find the touch. Commenting on their victory against one of the strongest teams in this tournament Shining Star coach K.V. Fazlu said: “The determination of players was the key for victory.
The match was very interesting as both teams played well.” Next match will be played on April 12 in which Blue Moon will play against Shining Star.
Ashraf Kozhikode, Rajeev Kannur and Satheesh Parumala supervised the match. A committee consisting of S.V.Abdurahiman (CRP), K.M.Ummer Koya, Faizal Cheruveedu, K.M.Jaleel, M.M. Ussu, E.V.Kareem, O. Kunchammu, A.P.Zakariya and Aboo Binzagr is organizing the tournament.
