JEDDAH, 12 April — The powerhouse Al Alamiah Insektos bowling team regained the pole position on the 34th week when the quartet of Hashim Guinomla, Nonie Yap, Sid Lapena and BBG honcho Arnold C. Alday outscored the equally powerful Abudawood Trading in two out of three games. After submitting a 51.5-47 tally during the week, Al Alamiah is now leading the pack with precarious 9 points.

Erstwhile leader Internet@Kape, which was two and five tenths points away from its close pursuer on the 33rd week, merely scored 40 through the superb spins and pendulum swing of Goying Salazar in the lines of 234, 212 and 209. Although Internet won over D’Amigos throughout the match, the points earned during the week were not enough to hold the checkered flag. Roger Dacquioag, Ador Torres and Alex Guinto played below average games.

The stunning highlight of the week was the decisive victory of Sarawat Aces against the team with a logo of four question marks and one exclamation point (????!).

The match commenced with the fierce exchange of marks frame by frame with Sawarat gaining the upper hand when Nap Patayan rolled off a series of strikes and scored a big 257. The duo, however, of Igna Salgado and Odjie Sagcal bogged down and met walls of splits. The “Aces” posted 820 pins.

Eddie Tuico and Art Sta. Maria were clogging strikes but the pair of Rudy Sagum and Pancho Cuevas was erratic of their shots. When the dusts were cleared and with handicap added to their series, the team with a logo of ????! registered more pins (827) than Sarawat.

Sarawat went stubborn and unyielding after the agonizing seven-pin one-point defeat (19-20) on the initial set. Patayan, Sagcal, Salgado and team captain Rally Zamora unleashed their ire and flashed their incredible performances. The second game produced 856 pins and scored 20 big points. The opposing foursome of Cuevas, Sagum, Tuico and Sta. Maria failed to withstand the pressure, scored 750 for only seven points.

On the final match, Sarawat bowlers Sagcal (243), Salgado (221), Patayan (209) and Zamora (232) rolled off all their aces and turned Jeddah Bowling Center crackling with tumbling pins. Their sterling 905-game snatched 21 points which brought their three-game series to 2,581, which received 22 rank points. Sarawat Aces bagged the team of the week award at a total score of 82 points.

Otra Cosa stalwart Val Magsino stole the limelight in the individual category when he bowled a high 247 on the last lap to share with Sarawat Aces the top honors of the week at a three-game series of 730 including handicap. Magsino brought home the elusive bowler of the week title after hitting the lines of 246, 216 and 247, which were fortified by his 7-pin handicap per game.

Al Ahadal Establishment bowlers posted a total of 74 points when the quartet of Talal Al Twairib, Mishal Hamdi, Ramis Ayoub and Rey Beltran bounced back on the final set for another 22 points (924) after stumbling down on the second game (762) with only nine. Al Ahadal pocketed 22 points at the start (877). Their series of 2563 was worth 21 rank points.

Guess? squad of Jess Oscondo, Edwin Carrao, Ariel Urquia and Vhoi Ycong posted 80.5 points after the gruelling battle against the Seiko team of Albert Sarte, Vic Santos, Rene Martinez and Obie Ycasas. The latter scored 71.5.

Val Magsino was the instant hero of Otra Cosa when on the final blend he led them to a decisive cliffhanger victory over The Falcon with his scratch score of 247. Otra Cosa scored 63 points while The Falcon flew away with 62.

After all the points were tabulated, SkyFreight Forwarders outscored N-Ball by four points (63-59) when the quartet of Cris Villavelez, Rene Santiago, Fred Monzon and SkyFreight Forwarders team manager Emy de Guzman rolled off a series of 871 on the second game. N-Ballís Alex Tabusares, Bien Hermosura, Leo Pangilinan and Lavern Laderas scored high on the first and final sets but their low game on the penultimate was a heavy blow.
