ALKHOBAR, 18 April — Officials of the Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers in the Eastern Region (IIEECRSA) have called on Filipino electrical engineers and technicians who are not yet members of the organization to join now and avail themselves of the continuing professional education program it offers.
The group sounded out this call recently as it warned of the increasing competitiveness for practitioners in the electrical engineering field.
“Let us collectively upgrade our skills or we will be left out in the global battle for competitiveness,” said chapter president Robert U. Mabulay, who also encouraged and challenged members to share their expertise in various fields to others.
In its recently concluded general membership meeting and technical seminar at the Jubail Inter-Continental Hotel — its first outside of AlKhobar — the chapter interspersed its membership meetings with a technical seminar.
Art Evangelista, a professional electrical engineer (PEE) with solid experience in electrical design, gave an overview on Substation Power Relaying and the subject was well received that the chapter is now planning to conduct a detailed seminar/workshop.
Cesar D. dela Cruz, another PEE who is press relations officer of the group, revealed that the new website of the chapter was officially launched.
He said Voltaire Cabreros, a young engineer and upcoming networks specialist worked with Gil Escaro in creating a more active and powerful homepage.
Some 60 participants attended the seminar organized by Gerry Valerio, with the generous support of Fluor Arabia, NCC and Abdulkarim Trading.
Mabulay said the chapter will start holding similar activities in remote locations within the Eastern Region to make it easier for practitioners of the field to attend.
The IIEE-ERCSA is said to be the most decorated overseas chapter of the Manila-based professional group, having won the title “Most Outstanding Foreign Chapter” from the IIEE’s National Awards Committee for the years 1998,1999 and 2000.
Last year, it was the turn of the IIEE-Western Region chapter, or IIEE-WRCSA, to win.
