RIYADH, 19 April — Saudia Milk, Friends, Mehran and Carrier entered the last four stages in Shield Group while Young Friends, Al-Eid, Fighters and PIA Young qualified for the semifinals in the Plate Group in the ongoing SHB 20 overs tournament.
In Shield matches at RCA-2 ground, Saudia Milk whipped Al-Hamra by 7 wickets while Friends got the better of SAMBA by 8 wickets at RCA-1 ground.
At RCA-3 ground, Mehran romped home winners by 6 wickets against Pak-Shaheen while Carrier beat Saudi Ericsson by 24 runs in an exciting match at RCA-4 ground.
The highlights of Shield quarterfinals were brilliant batting by Kashif M. Khan 81 (6x4s & 5x6s) of Carrier and Owais unbeaten 75 (7x4s) of Friends.
In Plate matches, Young Friends helped by a fine 76 by Afzal Pasha comfortably beat Young Stars at RCA-7 ground while at RCA-2 ground Adnan’s unbeaten 66 with 5 fours and Asad’s all-round display (49 and 4/38) helped Al-Eid trounce KSU by 9 wickets.
Afzal Pasha’s innings was studded with 7 fours and one six.
At RCA-3 ground, Fighters defeated Indo-Pak by 3 wickets while PIA Young got the better of Meezan Spices in the last over in an exciting match at RCA-4 ground.
