Prepaid mobile chips from today

JEDDAH, 27 April — Saudi Telecom Company is set to launch the much-awaited prepaid mobile chip today. Saud Al-Dowaish, vice president of the company, told Okaz that the new service, called Sawa, was likely to raise the number of mobile subscribers by one million this year. The chips will be available in denominations of SR200 — valid for 60 days — and SR100 — valid for 30 days. Dowaish said the total number of mobile subscribers in the Kingdom is expected to double from 2.8 million to 5.5 million by the end of this year.
