Eight killed as taxi hits camel: Eight men were killed when a taxi hit a camel and then careered into an oncoming truck on the road between Jeddah and Madinah, newspapers reported yesterday. The six passengers and driver of the taxi were all killed in the accident, which also claimed the truck driver’s life. The dead were identified as six Saudis and two Pakistani nationals.Wandering camels are a constant problem for motorists. Official figures show that hundreds die every year in accidents caused by camels in Saudi Arabia.

Pakistani beheaded for murder: A Pakistani convicted of stabbing a compatriot to death was beheaded yesterday in the Eastern Province city of Jubail, the Interior Ministry said. Ghaleb Mahmoud Akram-ul-Haq was convicted of killing Hafez Mohammad Naim Abdusattar at the victim’s home, the ministry said, quoted by the SPA news agency. Haq went to see Abdusattar, stabbed him and then cut off his head simply because he hated him, the ministry said.

Student runs away with question paper: An engineering student of Riyadh’s King Saud University created an uproar when he ran away from the examination hall with the question paper for the English test. A supervisor, who suspected that the student would leak the questions to his friends waiting outside, caught the student after a chase, Al-Jazirah reported.
