RIYADH, 30 April — A new website specifically for Indian expatriates living in Saudi Arabia has been launched. The site is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia; it covers a variety of topics — frequently asked questions, legal and health tips, free online service, information about jobs and courses, career tips and tourist information.

Syed Ziaur Rahman, from Hyderabad, has developed the site — www.yahind.com. He says it is the first website for Indians which provides comprehensive links and information for them. One of the best things about the site is that it provides Indian stock market information.

For a long time, non-resident Indians (NRI) have wanted a way to find out the latest stock market trends in India. No doubt if they want to keep track of stock market fluctuations, the site can be immensely helpful. It will also be valuable in safeguarding the financial interests of Indian expatriates in the Middle East who have invested millions of dollars in the Indian stock market.

Yahind.com must be careful to update all information pertaining to the Kingdom. If this is not done, users will be misled and misinformed. The site also provides an insight into investment opportunities in India.

This is another area, which has to be dealt very carefully. In the past, hundreds of fake Indian companies duped NRIs of their hard-earned money. It is imperative that the site check the credentials of the companies listed on its site for investments.

For an ordinary NRI who is often in the dark about new rules and regulations, immigration and bank policies, yahind.com will provide a great service if it lists all the current applicable rules and regulations.

Rahman said that NRIs could also post community news and classified advertisement at no charge. He said the site would also post information and new regulations from the Indian Embassy. The site has a free e-mail storage facility up to 6MB enabling it to send or retrieve e-mail from the site to anywhere in the world. It also offers private chatrooms for communicating with friends and relatives.

For concerned parents, the site provides comprehensive information about educational opportunities overseas and in India. Rahman says that anyone can get free membership by simply logging on to yahind.com.
