JEDDAH, 3 May — Class ‘C’ bowler Jerriel Cacao of N-Ball was remarkably outstanding. He rolled off his 14-lb urethane ball with all his might on the final game and scored a towering 279. His excellent performances popped up N-Ball to the fore of 22 powerhouse teams during the 37th week of the Tuesday Night League organized by the Brotherhood Bowling Group here at the 24-lane Jeddah Bowling Center.

Using the five-step rythmic approach, Cacao put strong force on his follow-through that facilitated excellent spins. After a spare on the first frame, he fired with consistent precision, hit nine solid strikes and scored the towering 279 scratch. Assisted by Lavern Laderas (235), Leo Pangilinan (214) and Bien Hermosura (182), N-Ball collected the 22 maximum points on the last game (991 pins) and the 22 rank points at a series of 2,674. The quartet posted the second highest score in the team high game with handicap (991), the record was previously set by KKB at 1001.

N-Ball’s classy finishes snatched the 37th team of the week award at a total score of 86 points. Cacao, Laderas, Pangilinan and Hermosura hit 21 points at the start (811 pins) and another 21 points (872) on the second game, both were fortified by their strong finish on the final stretch (22) and by the rank points (22) after all the teams were tappered down.

The opposing Abudawood Trading team submitted 54 points. The team was merely a point away at the start but it failed to maintain the steam of their game. It lagged behind on the second match when they traded merely 716 pins equivalent to 5 points. The quartet of Lindo Villanueva, Hero Garcia, Sebz Tristeza and Fadi scored 15 points on the last leg and 14 rank points at a series of 2,300.

The prize, however, will be awarded to Otra Cosa in accordance with the existing rules. Otra Cosa posted 58 points. Internet@Kape (79 points), Top Gun (69.5), Saudi Diyar Consultants (64.5), Al Alamiah Insektos (63.5) and KKB (59.5) forwarded higher points to the table than Otra Cosa but all of them were already given of the prize.

In the individual category, Jerriel Cacao bagged the honors of being the bowler of the week at a series of 785 including handicap, the second highest series established ever in the league. The record is 816 set by Rene Santiago of SkyFreight Forwarders when he scored a perfect 300 on the 10th week.

Cacao hit 193 at the start, 241 on the second game and 279 on the final stretch, which were foritified by his 24-pin handicap per game. He would have broken the record in the high game with handicap, but his 303 mark was short by four pins. Rene Santiago is holding the 307 record.

In another pair of lanes, Internet@Kape took advantage of the non-appearance of Power Strikers. Ther foursome of Goying Salazar, Roger Dacquioag, Ador Torres and Alex Guinto blasted the lanes with a series of 2,448 to add 79 points to their tally.

Al Ahadal Establishment outscored The Falcons in three decisive matches. The final score was 58-47.5. Saudi Diyar Consultants was too classy for the Guess? team to handle. After the debris of pins were cleared, the ‘consultants’ posted 64.5 points while Guess? submitted 27.

Otra Cosa struggled to defend their position against the offensive game put up by Thunderball. With the 14.5-point advantage after the initial game (18.5-4), Otra Cosa failed to maintain their momentum. On the two remaining sets, they went self-destruct yet they held tight at bay. After the onslaught of strikes and spares, Otra Cosa outscored Thunderball by five points (58-53).

KKB foursome of Randy Mata, Ver Luz, Majid Aslani and Bobby Barraquel added 59.5 points to their current score without sweat. Their opponent, D’Amigos team, did not show up. Top Gun and Al Alamiah Insektos were also engaged in a fierce battle on lanes 13 and 14. After Al Alamiah quartet of Guinomla, Yap, Lapena and Alday inflected wounds to ‘gunners’ Medina, Tuvera, Edejer and Valenzuela (17-14), the latter bounced back and bombarded the lanes with 874 pins (22 points). As soon as the slaughtered pins were cleared, Top Gun carded 69.5 points while Al Alamiah registered 63.5.
