Seidel tops CCC leaderboard

JEDDAH, 3 May — Anselmo Seidel of Al Obiri Rent-A-Car is the tournament leader of the Community Chess Club Phase Active Single Round Robin with 12 wins-1 draw in out of 13 games.

Seidel stayed at nummber one pole position and awaiting the outcome of the 13 chess players scrambling in the stepladder. Seidel will meet the winner on May 24.

Michael Sangalang of King Faisal Naval Base took the second pole position with 9 points.

SG 2001 Invitational Chess Tournament 1st runner-up Fahad Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia garnered 9 points claimed 3rd spot.

Ramon Andrada of ABV Rock 8.5 points — 4th; Alex Dampil of King Faisal Naval Base 8.5 points — 5th; Emad Habeeb of Saudi Arabian Airlines 7.5 points — 6th; Ronald Eugenio of Kaki Travel Agency 7.0 points — 7th; Jan Mohd of Jeddah Municipality 6.0 points — 8th; Marvin Franco of Al Bashawri Optical 5.0 points — 9th; Irshad Hussain of Trans Desert 5.0 points — 10th; Edgar Mallari of Saudi Telephone Co. 4.0 points — 11th; Usman Muhamad of Mitsubishi 3.5 points — 12th; Glenn Tolo of El Khereji Corp. 3.0 points — 13th; Ali Saif of Al Hilal Est. 2.0 points — 14th.

The final phase of series 3 or the Stepladder Knockout final games are to be played at 2:00 p.m. every Friday and will end on May 24 at Community Chess Club. Best of two games — one white and one black, 30 minutes each player of equivalent to one hour per game and will follow Fide Active rules.

In the playoff, it will be sudden-death under faster time control (15-15 minutes). The pole leader or white pieces must win while a draw is victory for black.
