JEDDAH, 3 May — Entering the danger zone with only few more weeks unsettled in the Panther Energy Drink Sunday bowlfest organized by the Jeddah Bowling League at the Jeddah Bowling Congress, Zamora rallied the sponsor team Panther Energy Drink into the thick of the fight for the top four slots. Zamora scorched the lanes with a three-game series of 669 pinfalls (217, 225 and 217) for a 2,424-2,246 (4-1) drubbing of erstwhile rivals Mobi-Sarawat to show that he can still definitely spark any team and be the cornerstone in its march to glory especially so when the chips are down Complimenting Zamora’s torrid showing in lane 6 was teammate Leo Pangilinan who bucked a lethargic start of 181 pinfalls by delivering a back-breaking 237 in the second and 222 in the third for a three-game series of 640. Engr. Odjie Sagcal and Nap Patayan came up with 545 and 528 pinfalls respectively for the winners while only Abet Sarte breached the 600-mark with 639 pinfalls from among the losing Mobi-Sarawat keglers. Levy Janaban and Dante Rivero looked good in the early going hitting 216 and 209 in the initial roll-off. They sputtered the rest of the way with Janaban skidding to 144 in the second and Rivero hitting rock-bottom of 136 in the third. Nats Ongtingco could only post a low 407 three-game series.

Jeddah Bowling League (JBL) led by its chairman Engr. Odjie Sagcal, technical head Rally Zamora and Secretary-treasurer Igna Salgado are the organizers getting the much-needed boost from Panther Energy Drink distributed by Marrot Jizan Co. represented by Abdullah Junaib Bawazir (GM) and Abdul Rahman Al-Haddad (SC).

The other sponsors of the Sunday bowlfest. Are Sarawat Superstores, Green Farms Alesayi and the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.

D’Falcon continued to soar high with a 5-0 blast of Otra Cosa as the quartet of Jun Lasaga, Danny Bautista, Alex Guinto and Ed Labuac conspired for an aggregate total of 2381 taking advantage of their listless rivals. Lasaga plucked down 258 pins to salvage a wimpy third game performance of three other Falcon keglers that had benefitted from an uncharacteristically poor showing of Hashim Guinomla (573), Ver Luz (525) and Alex Flora (445). Only Jun Pilipina came through with a respectable showing, knocking in a three-game series of 617 in lane 7.

Tetra Pak fielded a steady pack of keglers none of whom delivered more than 600-pinfalls but none scored any lower than 555 to turn back Bicol Saro, 3-2 (2,333-2,280). Rudy Punzalan led Tetra Pak’s charge with 587 while Atoi Cruz, Bonnie, and Rodel Ricafort pinned 586, 565 and 556 in a rather ho-hum victory. Bicol Saro had three pin busters also registering a 500-plus output led by Benjie Cils with 587, Jhun Palacios and Raul de los Reyes scored 545 and 531 while Arnold Biblanas with a 27-handicap had 482.

Abudawood rode a brilliant 819 as against 761 pinfalls of rival Bowlmasters in a first round skirmish where Hero Garcia (224) and Mar C (228) combined for 447, 10-pins better than the duo of Cyril Balasico (214) and Jimmy Rosillo (213). Abudawood continued to dominate the rest of the way on a 5-0 (2,363-2,219) triumph.

Publicis Graphics benefited from the in-form class C kegler Lino Traquina who hauled down a three-game series 668 upstaging his more illustrious Class 0 teammates Roger Daquioag and Chris Villavelez who shot 623 and 571 respectively. Mhar Narvasa added 527 for a high 2407 output in gunning down Sisid’s foursome of Fred Monzon, Leo Edejer, Ruben Medina and Goying Salazar.

Over at lane 21, Jeddah Veterinary Clinic demoralized International with a fiery start of 853 pinfalls as the trio of Edu Toledo, Nick Suing, and Rene Martinez strung up 221, 220 and 216 en route to a 4-1 (2387-2279) victory. International’s Gil Ordonez made 231 and 210 in the first and third but was woefully unimpressive in the second with 133 for a three game series of 574.
