RIYADH, 4 May — Security officials have detained five Pakistani nationals for questioning over suspected involvement in the unexplained disappearance of a Pakistani teenager from a Riyadh suburb nearly two months ago.

Thirteen-year-old Abdul Rahman has been missing since March 13.

Three of the arrested have since been released after questioning, but the other two — Kader Baksh and Jalal Sher Mohammed — are still under custody.

The local police picked them up last Sunday.

Kader and Jalal, who worked in an auto workshop, lived in a building near Abdul Rahman’s house.

"All members of our family doubt the two neighbors, with whom we had a feud some time ago," said Bhagwant Mistak and Fahmida Ghulam Sarwar, Abdul Rahman’s mother and stepmother.

"We have not been on good terms with them after they refused to settle a financial matter with our family," they said.

But they said they did not lodge any complaint against these two persons. "In fact, the police acted on their own and arrested them for questioning," they added.

The family of the missing boy hails from Dera Ghazi Khan area of Pakistan. The Saudi-born Abdul Rahman was the third son of Jan Mohammed, who has six sons and one daughter from two wives.

The family has been living in an apartment in Suwedi area of Riyadh for several years.

Police have questioned several people in the case, but so far failed to track down the boy. Even the motorbike he was riding on the day he went missing has not been traced

The Pakistani Embassy is coordinating with the local police to solve the case.
