Two killed in Alkharj accident: A Saudi and a Pakistani expatriate worker died in a traffic accident on the old Alkharj road. The accident occurred when the Saudi swerved his car to avoid hitting the Pakistani, who was crossing the road. However, he was speeding, and the car hit an electric post in the middle of the road and then the Pakistani, killing the two on the spot.

Youth falls off bridge, dies: A Saudi youth died after falling from a six-meter-high bridge in Tabarjal, northern Saudi Arabia, on Monday. The 17-year-old was sitting on the edge of the bridge with his friends. He was rushed to hospital, but died there of injuries to the head. This is the second such incident on the same bridge. Earlier, a youth narrowly escaped death but sustained injuries to the head when he fell through a hole in the bridge.

Girl found dead in swimming pool: Sara Ahmad Al-Quthami, a seven-year-old girl drowned in the swimming pool of a new recreation center in Jeddah last Friday. Her family did not know that she had fallen in the pool because there were no lights to illuminate the water. According to Sara’s mother, two of her daughters had fallen in the pond, but one of them was rescued. Hasan Al-Quthami, her uncle, complained that security officers at the center had shown no interest in searching for the girl when they had reported her missing.

Two boys drown in pond: Two boys aged four and five from a Saudi family in Gurayat drowned in a pond owned by their uncle last Friday. The family was searching for the missing children when they found them face down in the pond. The children were rushed to Gurayat General Hospital, but doctors there were unable to do anything to save them.

SR2,000 reward for giving up suicide bid: An Indian expatriate worker who threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the top of a four-story building dropped the idea when a Saudi offered to pay him SR2,000 if he changed his mind. The Saudi saw the man on top of the building, at the bottom of which a large crowd had gathered. He asked the Indian why he wanted to commit suicide. The reply was that he had not received his salary for one year. The man was convinced that he should come down from the roof and the Saudi took him to his sponsor to resolve the problem.

Hospital employee fired for attacking doctor: An expatriate medical technician working at a general hospital in Madinah has been fired for attacking a doctor during a dispute. Health Minister Dr. Osama Shubokshi personally ordered that the expatriate worker’s contract to be terminated. Dr. Abdul Qader Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, director of health in Madinah, said that his department was currently looking at another case in which an expatriate doctor is accused of attacking a Saudi employee during working hours.

Youths held for posing as cops: Police are holding three Saudi youths in Baljurshi for questioning after complaints that they stopped vehicles and demanded that their drivers produce their IDs and driving licenses. The arrests were made after a Saudi informed the police of the youths’ suspicious activities.
