JEDDAH, 10 May — Traco Green rattled Zuhair Zahran with an exciting 4-wicket in the 2nd week of the Al Rabie-Pulz League sponsored by Al Rabie Foods and organized by JCL.
Elsewhere, SGB Baroom trounced Young Athlete by 9 wickets Saudia Milk easily beat IDB by 5 wickets and Mahmood Saeed coasted to a 7 wickets win over Toshiba.
Traco Green scored an exciting win against Zuhair Zahran who on batting first put up a reasonable score of 269 for 5. Openers Zafar was in fine form as he rattled 60 with some sparkling strokes. After the fall of 2 wickets for 41, Zafar along with Rashid Malik put on 146 runs for the third wicket before Zafar was dismissed. Rashid continued his good form of the previous match and raced to his maiden century of the league to remain unbeaten on 108 runs. Skipper Haroon chipped in with a quick 42 runs as Zuheir Zahran ended at 269 for 5 with Irfan taking 2 for 51. In reply, Traco Green batsmen went on for their strokes early on. Nisar (32), Imran (34), Rashid (29), Baber (37), Faisal (25) all pooled in with useful contribution but it was Kaleem who with a patient unbeaten 73 runs led his team to a good victory. He hit 2 sixes and 4 fours to ensure his side’s impressive win by 4 wickets at 270 for 6 in 34 overs.
SGB Baroom raced to the target set by Young Athelete with a superb unbeaten 86 runs by opener Rashid Butt who recently moved from Traco. His knock of 86 was studded with 7 hits to the fence and was made in double quick time. He batted elegantly and with authority enabling his team to race to their target of 166 for 1 in only 23.1 overs. He was well-supported by Shoaib (22) and Manjeet who remained unbeaten on 35. Earlier, Young Athlete had scored 161 before being all out. Rashid Butt shone with the ball also taking 4 for 31 and was supported by Asgar who took 4 for 24. Only openers Amer (31) and Saleem (31) offered resistance as the SGB Baroom bowlers dominated.
Mahmood Saeed scored a comfortable seven wicket win over Toshiba, the latter being bundled out for 170 in 29.2 overs. Opener Osman scored a strokeful half-century with 7 fours. He was given good support by Muhtaq who scored 40 the rest of the batsmen caved in to the spin of Irfan who took 4 for 25 and Wajahat who took 2 for 13. Earlier, paceman Mahfooz rattled the top order taking 3 for 32. In reply, Mahmood Saeed scored 172 for 3 in 19.4 overs with Irfan shining with the bat scoring a useful 58, Asgar chipped in with 35 and Nahdi and Farooq remained unbeaten with 20 and 32 respectively.
Saudia Milk raced to a five-wicket win over IDB thanks to a superb unbeaten 80 of 82 balls by veteran Mohammed Javed who was in fine touch. He picked up his runs in ones and twos taking advantage of the gaps in the field and punished the loose balls whenever the occasion came hitting 6 fours. Although the Milkmen lost 3 wickets for 20 in chasing an easy target of 205 runs, Javed in the company of Zulfiqar who hit a hurricane 67 runs put on 150 runs for the 4th wicket. Zulfiqar playing his first match for Saudia Milk hit 8 fours and a six in his 67 as Saudia Milk raced to end at 207 for 5 wickets in 28.4 overs. Shoaib took 3 for 35. Earlier, IDB scored 205 all-out with Fayes top scoring with 46 runs and was supported by Jawad (44), Raees (20) and Arif (22). Iftikhar mesmerized them with his subtle spin taking 5 for 40, Anees and Khalid picked up 2 wickets each.
