Attar and Deccan Blues win in Fuchs Friday League

JEDDAH, 10 May — In the 2nd week matches of Jeddah Cricket League Friday League sponsored by Fuchs Petroleum, Attar hammered Teem DDB. Deccan Blues triumphed over Sadozai. Juffali Benz beat Adamjee Insurance. Tamer won against Olympic Airways. Kanoo Travel could not stop UMA’s march toward victory.

Attar hammered Teem DDB inspite of an unbeaten ton by Shafeeq.

Shafeeq hit an unbeaten ton for Teem DDB but could not save his team’s defeat against Attar Travel by 8 wickets. It was a lone struggle by Shafeeq (104 not out) against Attar Travel XI.

Shafeeq took the bowlers of Attar from the scruff of their neck and played with full command where he liked. Attar Travel boasts of some very senior bowlers but Shafeeq played all with disdain.

He slammed 9 boundaries and two sixes. From other end, Anees and Waqas contributed 11 each. Teem DDB posted 171 runs for 5 wickets in their quantum of overs. Lamanta and Asad Malik claimed 2 wickets each for 23 and 26 runs respectively.

Asad Malik (48-4 fours) and Ghufran (33-2 fours) provided 89 runs opening start in 11 overs and made the task of coming batsmen easier. Ghufran was run out in the mix up. Sarfaraz (33 n.o.-3 fours) and Kashif (32 n.o.-2 fours) did not disappoint their team by scoring the remaining runs without being separated. Teem DDB tried all their bowlers to break their partnership but all their effors went in vain. Teem DDB gave away 28 extras.

Anees claimed the only wicket of Asad for 25 runs.

Deccan Blues triumph over Sadozai by 7 wickets

Sadozai scored 157 runs in their allotted overs and Deccan Blues cruised to victory for the loss of 3 wickets and almost 3 overs to spare.

Khawar (18-one six and a four) and Ramzan (23-2 sixes and a four) started in a hurricane style but Quddous had Khawar caught by A. Aziz and Maroof dismissed Ramzan. Ateeq chipped in with 23 with the help of 2 hits to the fence. Qasim slammed quickfire 61 containing 6 boundaries and 2 towering sixes. Latter batsmen could not keep up the momentum. Shahzad added 16. Sadozai reached 157 at the expiry of their overs. Basheer (2 for 18) was the most-succesful bowler. Besides A. Quddous and Maroof, Lobo and Karam Ali also picked one wicket each.

Deccan Blues suffered early setback when A. Quddous was dismissed for 4 but A. Aziz (55 n.o.-5 fours and a six) and Iftikhar (17-3 fours) played unperturbed. Maroof (31-4 fours) kept up the momentum. Sadiq hit unbeaten 20 including a six and a four. Deccan Blues were home in 17 overs losing 3 wickets only. Shehzad claimed 2 wickets for 31 runs and Zaheer had one victim for 27 runs.

Tamer edge Olympic Airways By 18 Runs

In low scoring match Tamer beat Olympic Airways by 18 runs. Tamer batting first was restricted to 126 runs only for 5 wickets in its alloted overs. Tamer batsmen were pinned down by Moin (2 for 29) and Shameem (2 for 24). Anwar (19-2 fours) and Noor (30-one four) played well under the circumstances. Tamer lost Saleem and Zahid without opening their account. Almas (41-3 fours) tried to break the shackles. Osman remained unbeaten with 21 . Aman also claimed one wicket for 30 runs.

Requiring a modest total, Olympic Airways were dealt early blows by Osman (1 for 27) and Muqeet (1 for 21) as they sent back Aman (09) and Habeeb (18). Then Anees did the rest by claiming the wickets of Shameem (15), Ishtiaq (7), and Tariq (21) at personal cost of 9 runs. As panic set in, Irfan (3), Shahid (3), and Moin were run out. Olympic Airways reached 106 consuming their overs. Noor chipped in with one wicket for 8 runs.

Juffali Benz defeat Adamjee Insurance by 7 wickets

Adamjee Insurance who had a convincing win against Teem DDB last week suffered a 7 wickets defeat at the hands of Juffali Benz.

Adamjee Insurance was tied down by tight bowling by Jufali Benz bowlers and could only manage 148 runs for 6 wickets. This tally was also made possible by Nadeem, Nadvi (29), Irfan (45-2 fours) and Naveed (29-2 fours). Young Zahid (2 for 16) bowled good line and length. Azhar Butt (2 for 35) though expensive a little but dismissed Irfan and Yasin. Nadeem Chughtai dealt first body blow by claiming opener Kamran (3).

Juffali Benz raced to victory in 14 overs. Hamid Butt (40-3 fours and a six) and Farhan (55-4 fours and a six) started at blistering pace putting up 101 runs opening wicket partnership in 10 overs. Imran (15 n.o.-2 fours) and Azhar Butt (13 n.o.-2 fours) accomplished the remaining task. Nadeem Nadvi (2 for 20) and Kaman (1 for 23) were successful bowlers.

UMA win against Kanoo Travel by 3 wickets

Kanoo Travel inspite of having services of some stalwarts could only put up 141 runs which UMA managed after some anxious moments.

Kanoo Travel tally of 141 runs included contributions of Sohail Butt (43-2 sixes and 2 fours), Rashid (20-2 sixes), Rabie Zubair (21), and Majid Siddique (30-4 fours). Ghazanfar grabbed 2 wickets for 31 runs including prize wicket of Sohail. Akbar (1 for 18) Omar (1 for 32) Iqbal (1 for 22) and Qaisar (1 for 19) also bowled well.

In reply, UMA was made to fight for each run. Shafiq (21-one six) and Ghazanfar (15-2 fours) started well but Sohail Butt accounted for both of them. Shehzad (23-2 fours) and Qaisar (32-2 fours) played steady and concentrated on singles and doubles. Asim (14) and Omar (24 n.o.) kept their nerves. UMA reached the target with 4 balls to spare. Sohail Butt was pick of the bowlers claiming 3 scalps for 25 runs. Imran and Shafi had wicket apiece.
