JEDDAH, 14 May — A monthlong Qur’an awareness campaign organized by the Islamic Call & Guidance Center in Jeddah’s Industrial City helped take the divine message to thousands of Indian expatriates, according to E.S. Abdussalam, the campaign’s convener.

Khaled Al-Maeena, editor-in-chief of Arab News, is scheduled to open the campaign’s concluding ceremony at King Fahd Hospital Research Center Auditorium here at 7.30 p.m. on Friday. C.K. Muhammad Najeeb will preside over the function which is to witness distribution of prizes to winners of various contests held on the occasion.

"The transformation brought about by the Holy Qur’an" is the main theme of the concluding ceremony. K.K. Abdullah of Faisal Islamic Bank, Sheikh Walid Hossam of the Call & Guidance Center and Dr. Raj of Jeddah National Hospital will speak on the topic.

Abdussalam said the campaign had targeted expatriates from the south Indian state of Kerala. "At present there are about 60 study centers teaching Qur’an to Keralites in various parts of the city. By the end of the campaign, we hope the number of these centers will increase considerably," he added.

The Call & Guidance Center organized various programs including table talks for Muslims and non-Muslims, a seminar for women and contests for children, men and women as part of the campaign, Abdussalam said.
