JEDDAH, 17 May — Ultra Services defeated Jeddah Brotherhood 72-61 in JBL Friday Morning basketball tournament held at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here in Al Hamra district beside Sands Hotel on Tahliah Street. Scores keep changing sides between the two teams up to the third quarter. At the start of the fourth quarter, Ultra Services applied pressure defense and dominated the shaded area with Cardano, Bon and Gerafil collecting the rebound. Coach Jibril Gonzales summoned for a timeout to give final instruction to his wards, Jeddah Brotherhood applied trapping defense to keep the game at bay but committed costly turnovers in the final last two minutes. Cardano attacked the shaded area and scores 20 points for Ultra Services while Salandanan top scores with 23 points for Jeddah Brotherhood.
In another game, Benihana Sixers scored second straight win versus Osaka Restaurant 72-50. Osaka Restaurant, the new on the block couldn’t find the right rhythm in the first 2 quarters of the game. Benihana Sixers showed their toughness throughout the game.
Osaka Restaurant tried to contain the running game of Benihana Sixers with a trapping defense but lost their steam before the second quarter ended. Osaka Restaurant regrouped in the third quarter and managed to reduce the lead to just 6 points, Benihana Restaurant immediately called for a timeout to stop the comebacking Osaka Restaurant.
Valiao brothers Mike and Jeff of Benihana Sixers alternately attacked the defensive wall of Santos Brothers Jay and Ric of Osaka Restaurant in the final quarter. Mike Valiao topscored with 24 points for Benihana Sixers while Sari scored 15 points for Osaka Restaurant. The organizing committee headed by Mohammad Rasheed Suyat with members Mohammad Fariz Diaz, Waleed Petrasanta, Ibrahim Atienza, Allan Mendoza, Lito Vivar and Jameel Petrasanta in coordination with Jeddah Dawah Center management in Al Salamah District.
