RIYADH, 24 May — The WRJ Freight Forwarders team of Steve Marcial and Larry Constantino competently supported by their teammates opened-up fast for the lead and showed offensive dominance throughout against the Live Wires 2 team of Godo Sarmiento and Lando Nazareno, 40-36 during the 8th week of the Spring Tennis Challenge 2002 Team Tennis Tournament of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players (AFTP) here at the Al Yamama Hotel Sports Complex, every Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Lob & Volley group of Romee Masingkil and Eddie Galvez leaned on an end game scoring prowess to swamp D’Smashers 2 team of Xcie Agbada and Larry Miranda at 42-32.
In a bid to enhance their chances of landing in the top four, the Al Faisaliah Internet Services and Technology sponsored AwalNet Surfers team managed by Romy Onias and Jojo Minoza hoped to keep their amazing run to the top when they beat the Thunderstick group of Dong Calub and Joey Salem, 45-20. The Hornets team of Jimmy Formilleza and Ardee Diaz took full advantage of the opportunity to establish an almost insurmountable lead and secured the win by slowing down the tempo of D’Millenium team of Paul Caballero and Ricky Cayetano, 48-25.
Equally strong Passing Shots team of Fidel Lozano and Jimmy Perfas maintained their position as the undisputed cup leader and stayed strong on top whey they crushed the group of E-Launchers team managed by Chito Abreau and Alfred Pastolero, 45-28.
In another development, the unified group of Danny Collantes and Rogie Toledantes installed specifically their team’s long range hitting and eventually beat, 47-20, the rookies of Siemens captained by Juanito Sanz and Neal Perez, while the Conquerrors team of Romy Guevarra and Kenneth Tulio, came out strong taking an early lead of 42-34 against the witty group of D’Crisscrossers headed by Jimmy Beringuel and Allan Malawanda.
The Al Manhal Spring Beverage Factory sponsored Subok Lang team of Lito Ladio and Leo Gervacio, unraveled at an ace of their sleeves when they routed 40-24 the Hard Ball group of Deo Pelaez and Danny Perez.
Rudy Alberto and Elmer Aquino’s Al Mohr Cargo tennisters extended their streak to a convincing victory over the Drop Shots team of Ray Axalan and Bert Manese, 45-34.
With high hopes of leading a high-powered scoring spree, D’Specialists team of Lito Lico and Daniel Valdez roared to a 45-28 win over the Tie Breakers 2 group of Noli Orejas and Majed Shaltaf.
