CBSE results put Dammam school on top once again

DAMMAM, 28 May — The International Indian School, Dammam, once again topped Indian schools in the Gulf region with excellent results in the 10th grade of Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, exminations, which were announced yesterday.

In all, 361 students took the exam. There were no failures and only three were listed in compartment list. In comparison, the IIS Riyadh has five failures and 40 students in the compartment list out of 386 students who sat the exams.

However, the overall topper among the three schools was once again from Riyadh. Nadeen Najib Goni secured 95.4 percent followed by S. Nayan Cornelio with 92.8 percent. In IIS Jeddah, out of 438 students who sat there were no failures but 69 students were listed in the compartment list. The topper from Jeddah was Habiba Jamila with 91 percent.

IIS Dammam was not only best in terms of success but also qualitatively. There were five students who scored 90 percent and above. More than 90 students scored 80 percent and above, according to the figures provided by the school.

Uzma H. Siddiqui was the overall topper from IIS Dammam with 93 percent. Neetu Mathew came second with 91.6 percent. Biddanda Shiv Ranjan came third with 91 percent, followed by Hashim Muhammad Siddiqui 90.4 percent and Harin Ashokan 90.2 percent.

Uzma Siddiqui and Nirmal Chandran secured 100 marks in mathematics.

In the 12th grade results, which were announced on Saturday, the IIS Dammam emerged the best Indian school in the Kingdom. Unlike in the 12th grade, girls of the 10th grade did better than boys. Girl students held the top two positions.

IISD Principal Muhammad Anwar expressed his delight on the result and said it showed the quality education imparted at the Dammam school. He congratulated the students and hoped that they will improve further in future examinations. He said the result was a reflection of the hard work and dedication of teachers. The school managing committee chairman, Dr. S.V.R Rao, also congratulated the students, teachers and the principal.

At the Jeddah school, all three top-scorers were girls, according to Brig. Iqbal Siddiqui, the school’s director.

Juliet Jasson Verghese with 88.8 percent marks came second after Habiba Jamila, and Shifana Anamangadan and Lohiya Aniya came third with 85.2 percent.

Farhan Abdullah Syed with 84.2 was the topper among the boys.He was followed by Aiman Syed Jawed Mahmood with 84 percent and Mudassar Nazar and Visal Nazar with 83 percent.

Meanwhile, the nominations for the election of the new IISD managing committee closed yesterday. According to the election commission set up under the instructions of the Saudi Ministry of Education, the nomination papers will be scrutinized and final list of the candidates declared by May 30. This is also the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

The election to the committee will be held on June 13. This will be the first election at the IIS Dammam to elect a managing committee under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education. The spouses of teachers and their immediate relatives cannot vote or contest the election.
