Pakistani women&#39s forum holds get-together

JEDDAH, 8 June — The Pioneers, a Pakistani women’s forum, recently held a get-together here with Begum Shahnaz Chaudhry, wife of Consul General Muhammad Nawaz Chaudhry, as the chief guest.

Dr. Saleha Mahmoud Abedin, associate professor of sociology at King Abdul Aziz University and director Darul Hekma College, was presented the Woman of the Year Award.

Dr. Saleha has espoused the cause of Muslim women at several international conferences. One of the speakers, Dr. Seema Malik, spoke about the plight of women during pre-Islamic days and how Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) raised their status.

The get-together also included several contests after which prizes were distributed, a press release of the Pioneers said.
