Morocco arrests three Saudis on terror charge

RABAT, 12 June — Moroccan authorities arrested three Saudi nationals and two Moroccan women suspected of preparing a terrorist attack on US and British ships. Rabat declined to give the names of the suspects but according to informed sources the ringleader is a 32- year-old man called Abdullah Al-Karih. He was arrested at Muhammad V Airport in Casablanca in the second week of May. His Moroccan wife who was arrested with him was traveling on a false Saudi passport.

Official sources said the men plotted to attack American and British ships in the Gibraltar Straits. They were reported to have links with Moroccan extremists. A team from the Central Intelligence Agency visited Morocco to coordinate efforts with their Moroccan counterparts to monitor the movement of suspected Al-Qaeda members.
