MADINAH, 18 July — The fruit and vegetable markets in the region have started receiving large quantities of different types of ripe dates from farmers, signifying the arrival of harvest season. The world famous Madinah dates, sought after by citizens and visitors alike, come in different types such as rothanah, heliah, baidh, rabiaah, and helwah. The produce is priced at reasonable levels as the market is oversuppplied following a a good harvest spawned by very warm weather conditions. A farmer said: “Dates harvest is subject to changing temperatures. The higher the temperature the more produce we get.” (SPA)
