Teenager denied new car, sets house on fire

JEDDAH, 19 July — A teenager in Hofuf in the Eastern Province set fire to his house when his father refused to buy him an SR150,000 new model car, Okaz reported.

The boy had made his demand several times before, threatening to set fire to the house.

He made good his threat two days ago when nobody was at home. A neighbor who noticed the fire telephoned Civil Defense whose rapid action force saved the house from total destruction. Police arrested the boy for interrogation.

Damage to the house, situated at Sulaimania district of Hofuf town, was still being assessed.
