ALKHOBAR, 24 July — The Saudi Arabian Hiligaynon Inc. (SAHI) had recently launched a new program meant to benefit not just its members in the Kingdom but also those who have gone home.

Roilo Diaz Alojado, SAHI's immediate past president, announced during the recent induction of the group's new officers that they will sponsor members who wish to take up courses with the Technology Livelihood Reserch Center (TLRC) in the Philippines.

The TLRC provides hands-on training on various business opportunities, such as manufacturing, farming, or animal raising.

In return, the trained members are to share what they learn with other members who are still working in the Kingdom.

The project was proposed by Ransam Pirote, an engineer and former president of the Ilonggo group, who is current chairman of the special projects committee.

Pirote explained in his report that in order to achieve this goal SAHI will update the membership database and conduct a survey among its members to know what appropriate courses they are interested in.

SAHI also plans to establish a home base in Iloilo to serve as training center for vacationing members, according to Alojado.

This program will also be made available to other SAHI members who have been transferred to other countries, Alojado said.

One of the most useful OFW organizations in the Kingdom. It earlier sponsored Filipino Community Day featuring Filipino artists coming from Manila.

Last year, Ambassador Rafael Seguis lauded the group for donating at least 17 nebulizers to government hospitals in remote areas in Western Visayas.

The new SAHI officers for the year 2002-2003 were inducted by Assistant Labor Attaché Jalilo dela Torre, who is himself an Ilonggo from Aklan province.

De la Torres is new chief of the Eastern Region Operations of the POLO-OWWA, replacing Labor Attaché Jainal Rasul, who became Supervising Labor Attaché in Riyadh.

Rasul replaced Arturo Sodusta, who was transferred to Athens, Greece.

The new SAHI officers are Antonio Morales, president; Rey Laurente, vice president in Jubail; Lawrence Gallego, vice president in Dammam; Floserfino Famarin, vice president in Hofuf; Alex Acanto, secretary; Ramon Llamado assistant secretary; William Anglacer, auditor; Pol Española, assistant auditor; Agustin Mike Brotarlo, treasurer; Bernard Doromal, assistant treasurer; Reynaldo Alla, business manager; Jaime King, assistant business manager; Carlo Alpay; press relations officer; and Mike Galanza, assistant PRO.
