JEDDAH, 30 July — Fayaz Thaha assumed charge in Dammam recently as SriLankan Airlines’ new country manager. It is a promotion for Thaha who was sales manager in Riyadh. Earlier, he was sales manager for the Western Province based in Jeddah from 1992 to 1996. "Thaha’s experience at all three major stations in the Kingdom justifies his promotion," Chintaka Bandara, the airline’s senior sales executive in Jeddah told Arab News. Samantha Nagahawatta has been appointed sales manager for the Central Province in Riyadh. "We operate two flights each from Riyadh and Dammam," Bandara said, adding: "Passengers from Jeddah have to take our flights from either Riyadh or Dammam." According to him, the airline introduced three flights a week a week ago from Colombo to Bangalore in south India. "The airline now flies to six Indian destinations — Madras, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Bombay and Delhi, aside from Bangalore," Bandara added. (K.S.R.)
