RIYADH, 31 July — Five members of a Saudi family were killed and seven others injured when the car in which they were traveling overturned on the Taif-Riyadh highway, Al-Watan newspaper reported yesterday.
Three men and two women died instantly as the car overturned after its rear tire burst. The injured, who included three children, were taken to hospital in stable condition, Al-Watan said.
Saudi Arabia has one of the world’s highest rates of road accidents, according to the Transport Ministry. Official reports indicate that more than 35,000 people died and over 200,000 were injured in traffic accidents in the past 10 years.
