JEDDAH, 9 August — A Chechen woman confessed during the trial of the murder case of a Saudi diplomat in Kazakhstan, Ahmad Al-Saawi, that she helped the first suspect Andre Bredev, a Russian, in the crime, Okaz quoted Saudi Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ali Al-Hamdan as saying yesterday.
The second secretary at the Saudi Embassy was murdered in Almaty in December, 1997. As the prime suspect pleaded insanity, the judge adjourned the trial until psychiatrists examined the Russian. He enjoyed sound mental health though he might be under severe stress, a psychiatrist appointed by the Saudi Embassy said.
