MADINAH, 17 August — A 101-year-old Yemeni woman died in Madinah recently of burns when her room caught fire from her own cigarette, Al-Riyadh reported yesterday.
She died at a nearby hospital where she was taken by Civil Defense officers. The woman was living in a room provided by a philanthropist.
According to the paper, the woman started smoking cigarette when she was 20 years old. “That day while she was smoking after Isha prayer the cigarette fell on the bed causing the fire,” it added.
Civil Defense officers rushed to the spot to rescue the old woman. She died at a Madinah hospital three days after the incident, the paper said.
In another development, Civil Defense officers helped a Saudi family find their three-year-old son, who went missing when they fell asleep at midnight while resting at an open place. They found the boy playing in a dark place about 4 a.m,
