RIYADH, 26 August — Kuwaiti coast guards have seized about 50 Saudi shrimp fishing boats, apparently for violating the emirate’s territorial waters, and arrested the fishermen, Al-Yaum newspaper reported yesterday. The newspaper quoted Saudi fishermen in the Eastern Province bordering Kuwait as saying it was the first time Kuwaiti authorities had seized such a large number of boats.

Director of Fisheries in the Eastern Province Fahd Al-Jame told the daily he had not received any information from Kuwait over the incident.
