JEDDAH, 2 September — A six-day Arab Industries Exhibition featuring products of 150 companies from 18 countries opened in Jeddah yesterday.
The show was opened on behalf of Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed by Abdullah Al-Fayez, undersecretary at Makkah governorate. Organized by Jeddah International Exhibitions Co. in association with Arab Union for Exhibitions and Conferences, an affiliate of the Arab League, the show seeks to enhance the principle of Arab economic integration and activate inter-Arab economic cooperation, said Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Suheibani, Arab League assistant secretary-general for economic affairs.
The Kingdom is represented by more than 34 companies and factories specialized in petroleum and petrochemical industries, oil, heavy equipment, electronic equipment, food materials and textiles. Abdullah ibn Mahfouz, chairman of Jeddah International Exhibitions Company, said several workshops would be organized on the fringes of the exhibition on issues pertaining to Arab economic cooperation, Arab duty-free zone and product quality.
