JEDDAH, 4 September — Automobile spare parts worth more than SR100 million were stolen from shops on Sabaeen Street in Bani Malik District, Okaz reported yesterday quoting traders.

The traders said the heist took place overnight and they were shocked the next morning to find their shops burgled .

The traders expressed surprise over the incident as the shops are located on the main street and traffic on the road never stops be it day or night.

They said the shops were burgled either by opening the roof or breaking the door lock.

Saudi traders Omar Mohammed Qadi, Abdullah Ahmad and Abdullah Mohammed proposed that they appoint private guards to protect their goods from thieves.

Col. Aarif Al-Harithy, director of Sharafiya police, told the Arabic daily that his department was probing the incident. He said he was confident that his officers would soon track down the burglars.
