Schoolboy wins inventor prize

JEDDAH, 29 August — Omar Saleem Ali Al- Mutairi, a student of Nimrah High School, has won the grand prize in a young scientist competition for his invention of a water seepage detector.

The invention of Omar, 17, was picked for the top prize from a field of 300 entries in the competition whose theme was “Save Our Resources”.

As the winner, Omar will soon fly to Izmir, Turkey to attend a special space camp training session. The “taste of space” session is interactive with hands on experience and simulated activities.

The young scientist competition is an annual educational program in the fifth year, organized by Al-Baik and Coca-Cola in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Jeddah Science and Technology Center.
