Girl student among 3 killed in accidents

JEDDAH, 18 October — Three persons, including a girl student, were killed and 13 others injured in three separate road accidents in Jizan and Abha, press reports said yesterday.

In the first accident, a girl student died and five others were injured, one of them seriously, when the bus carrying them collided with a trailer, Al-Watan reported.

The Arabic daily said the accident occurred on Abu Areesh-Uhd Masaraha Road while the girl students were going to the College of Education in Samita. The injured were taken to Abu Areesh General Hospital.

In the second accident in Abha, six girl students were injured when their bus overturned after hitting a Mercedes Benz car, the paper said. The accident occurred on Abha-Qaraa Road while the students were returning from school. The injured students are receiving treatment at Asir Central Hospital.

In another accident on Madhya-Jizan Road, two persons died and two others were injured when two cars collided head on on Saturday morning. Witnesses said the bodies of the driver of one car and his companion were charred as the car caught fire as a result of the impact of the accident, Al-Watan said.
