US delegation sets talks in Riyadh, Jeddah

RIYADH, 20 October — A US business delegation led by Allan Lever, president of World Trade Center in Chicago, will meet with Riyadh Governor Prince Salman, Prince Sultan ibn Salman, secretary-general of the Supreme Commission for Tourism, and other top government officials.

The delegation, which arrived here yesterday at the invitation of Saudi-US Business Council, will also hold talks with Saudi businessmen engaged in various investment, industrial and commercial activities.

The delegation will visit Jeddah and meet with Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed and prominent businessmen in the region to promote business and economic ties between the two countries.

Abdul Aziz Al-Qurashi, president of the council, will host a luncheon here today in honor of the delegation representing American companies specialized in industry, energy, trade, minerals, contracting, finance, insurance, health service and information.

The number of Saudi-US joint ventures reached 307 by October 2001.

As many as 474 industrial projects have been established in the Kingdom as per the foreign investment law until the end of 2000.

According to reports issued by the Industry and Planning Ministries, these joint projects worth SR132.2 billion provide 69,000 jobs to Saudis as well as expatriates.
