RIYADH, 23 October — A special UN human rights envoy on a landmark visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday held talks with Saleh Al-Sheikh, minister of Islamic affairs, and a top judiciary official. Dato Param Cumaraswamy, UN special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, discussed with Al-Shaikh "issues of mutual concern." Sheikh Mansoor Al-Malek, head of the administrative court, in a separate meeting, briefed him about the court’s duties in the settlement of complicated cases.
