JEDDAH, 25 October — Team Otra Cosa could not keep their code of silence anymore, pillaging the opposition in the 15th week of the 11th Jeddah Bowling League-Anchor Milk bowling tournament at the Jeddah Bowling Center.

Saudi New Zealand Milk Product distributor of Anchor Milk is the principal sponsor of the tournament. The Sunday bowling tournament run by the Jeddah Bowling League is under the chairmanship of Odjie Sagcal.

Supporting the league are Sarawat Superstores, Blasting Pin, International, Saudi British Bank, Hagibis, Otra Cosa, Top Gun, D’Falcon, Al-Alamiah, Disel X’ers, Bulalakaw, National Pet Supplies and Publicis Graphics. Otra Cosa better known in Jeddah bowling circles as the team representing the initials of Philcongen labor attaché Carlos O. Sta. Ana had long been silent all throughout dating back to the start of the Anchor bowlfest. However, presaging the second round it was entirely a different team collecting 47 points and 2384 pins for the coveted team of the week award. Jeddah-based bowling standout Hashim Guinomla saved his best for last with reversed lines of 246, 236 and 158 leading Otra Cosa’s charge.

Ver Luz had torrid a 224 pins in game 1 while Jun Pilipina on the other hand had regressive scores of 203, 193 and 189 for separate three-game series of 590 and 585 respectively. Edwin Ronquillo who had a good start with a 208 contributed 569 pinfalls. Way up ahead in the 13-team 29 weeks contest with 532 total win points built on 33666 total pinfalls is Publicis Graphics, which refused to let down their guard by coming on strong at second place in the week.

PG was only one point lower than Otra Cosa with 46 points but had a higher team scratch of 2401 pins. The intractable Lino Traquina, unleashed his full might in games one and three rolling down 233 and 213 pins to pace Publicis Graphics with three-game series of 656 while Chris Villaveles scored 203 and 242 in the same mold out of his 638. Mar Narvasa and Joey Salvador assembled separate three game totals of 573 and 534. Lindo Villanueva of Hagibis shot 687 pins to offset his teammates bland showing as his team chalked up 40 points, 2355 pinfalls.

Class ‘O’ Danny Bautista made a god show in game 2 with a 216 out of his 599 output while Emil Payongayong and Nap Patayan spilled 573 and 496. National Pet Supplies turned back the hands of time by pulling level with Bulalakaw (SFC) with identical 486.50 points to their credit but NPS got second seeding by virtue of a higher total pinfalls 33634 to 33468. It can be recalled that Bulalakaw quietly dislodged National Pet Supplies at second place last week. Two weeks back, a mirror image of the 15th week was apparent.

Both teams were tied in total win points in the 13th week with 438.5 points to their credit and NPS was better on total pinfalls 29217 as against 29103. Although Disel X’ers failed to maintain their hot pace with only 21 points woven from 2193 pins they nevertheless retained the fourth spot with 469.00 twp and 31489 pinfalls. Raul de los Reyes reigned supreme for the X’ers with 624 highlighted by a 246 in the third but the night also saw their import Majed Aslani uncharacteristically careening to a low 499. For a class C kegler, Kiko Catabas was again alive and kicking cutting up a clean 653 pinfalls for Al-Alamiah Insektos.

Catabas had a single game high in the third with a 209. Roger Daquiaog had a 208 in Game two and a 602 total. Sid Lapena and Arnold Alday added 573 and 524 for the team, which snared 39 points out of 2352 pinfalls. Al-Alamiah is in fifth place overall with 443 two and 32764 pinfalls. Defending champion D’Falcon managed to squeeze 37 points out of 2325 pins thanks largely to Jess Pineda who shot a blistering first game of 244 before nailing two 200s from his three game series 644.

Class B Andy Erena shot 612. On-and-off Saudi British Bank failed to sustain their previous week’s on-form and was off the mark in the 15th. Their bowlers shot very low lines of 441, 495, 500 and 589. Eddie Tuico of team International had a prestigious night-out of 671 pins with progressive lines of 203, 211 and 212 excluding 15-pin handicap in each game.
