JEDDAH, 28 November 2002 — The Ministry of Agriculture has lifted a two-year old ban on the import of cattle import from the Gulf countries except the United Arab Emirates, Al-Watan daily reported yesterday. The ban was enforced following the spread of killer epidemics such as the Rift Valley Fever and Foot and Mouth Disease in the region. According to the new order there is no objection to importing goats and sheep, cow, and gazelle from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and camels from Qatar and Bahrain. Gazelle from the UAE is also exempted from the ban.
