RIYADH, 17 December 2002 — Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla will lead an embassy team to Alkhobar on Dec. 26 and 27 to render passporting and other consular services to Filipinos in the Eastern Region.
An embassy statement yesterday said the team will temporarily hold office at the Park Hotel in Alkhobar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The team will also be bringing 3 cartons of donated clothes to distressed OFWs in Dammam from Lingap Pinoy, a Filipino community association in Riyadh composed of Filipino Saudi Telecom employees, said the statement.
With the ambassador are Vice Consul Ezzedin H. Tago, Attachés Acas Bayabao, Kadar Macasindil, Saipoden Manalao and Tomas Lauzon.
For more information on the consular team, the embassy may be reached at telephone numbers 482-0507 and 482-3559.
Meanwhile, embassy personnel raised last week 10,000 pesos and donated the amount to the Bantay Bata and Bantay Kalikasan projects of the ABS-CBN Foundation.
The twin project (which means Child Watch and Environment Watch) are designed to benefit needy and destitute children as well as for the protection of the environment.
The foundation conducted a global telethon last week during which the television station received pledges from various groups and individuals in Manila and overseas.
In June, the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has asked the embassy to endorse its request for help from Filipino community groups and individuals.
About a dozen groups, including four schools, have responded so far.
With its chapters present all over the Philippines, the PNRC is always one of the first to respond and last to pull out where there is a calamity, natural or man-made.
