JEDDAH, 7 January 2003 — Le Jeddah Meridien conducted a successful fire drill in the hotel in coordination with the Civil Defense Department and Jeddah Fire Brigade, recently. Hotel guests and staff participated in the event. Smoke bombs were used to simulate a real fire incident and as expected the fire drill ran perfectly, lasting about 20 minutes, when all guests and personnel were evacuated to safety. A few glitches in the evacuation procedure that were detected will be fine tuned as recommended by the Civil Defense. The drill was also conducted to test the capabilities and effectiveness of the hotel’s state-of-the-art fire alarm and fire fighting equipments. “Definitely, a series of drills will be conducted in the future until all hotel personnel get fully acquainted with their roles and perfect the outlined procedure in case of any unforeseen event. We just don’t deliver the best service and product in the market but also ensure and accord utmost importance to safety and security of our hotel guests,” a hotel executive said. (KSR)
