RIYADH, 11 January 2003 — Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Latif Al-Jazzar has been appointed director general of Saudi Research & Publishing Company (SRPC), an affiliate of Saudi Research & Marketing Group (SRMG), it was announced here yesterday.
Prince Faisal ibn Salman, chairman of SRMG’s board of directors, took the decision as part of his efforts to strengthen the media company, publisher of Arab News and other publications including Asharq Al-Awsat, Al-Eqtisadiah and Arriyadiah.
Prince Faisal also appointed Dr. Fahd Al-Tayash as editor in chief of Al-Majalla magazine, a political weekly in Arabic published by the company.
A press statement issued by the company described Al-Jazzar as an experienced administrator who has worked as chairman and manager of several companies.
His last appointment was as executive chairman of International Systems Engineering, one of the companies under the Economic Offset Program.
Al-Jazzar has also worked as an executive partner of Malaz Group, a Saudi investment company, chairman of CompuMe in the United Arab Emirates, and a member of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the Foreign Relations Committee under the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
He retired from the Royal Saudi Air Force in 1993 with the rank of a colonel, the statement said.
Al-Tayash, the newly appointed editor in chief of Al-Majalla, has a doctorate degree in information from a US university.
He worked as an associate professor and head of the information department at King Saud University in Riyadh. He also held a number of editorial and administrative positions at SRPC.
