Jakarta suspends recruitment to Gulf

RIYADH, 23 January 2003 — The Indonesian government has notified recruitment agencies in the country to temporarily suspend sending workers to Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, as a US-led war on Iraq looms, Al-Madinah daily said yesterday. The recruitment agencies, however, have called on Jakarta to delay the implementation of the decision because it will harm their interests.
